Until the mid-20th century, there was no agreed standard for grading diamonds. Color, transparency, cut and carat weight was established by GIA as the first and most widely accepted criteria to characterize diamonds.  Diamond 4 Cs is now the gold standard for determining diamond quality anywhere in the world.

What is diamond 4 C chart?

Each of the four Cs of diamond (cut, color, clarity, carat) contributes to the beauty of the diamond. The grades diamonds receive in these four areas clearly show their quality and, as a result, the reasonable prices you are willing to pay.

What are the 4 Cs of diamond?

The quality of a diamond is determined by the below four Cs:

Cut:  Cut mean quality of the angles, properties, assets, and finishing detail.

Color: how colorless the diamond has.

Clarity: how the diamond is clean of inclusion and blemishes.

Carat: this clear the weight of the diamond.

These four properties of diamonds are the most important factors that affect their appearance and structure. Within the diamond, the 4Cs interact with each other. They determine the appearance and quality of the diamond. For example, the ability of a diamond to reflect light to the eye is largely determined not only by the quality of the cut but also by its color and transparency.

Professional evaluates the properties of four diamonds on a standardized scale and provides tools for analyzing diamonds. Looking at 4C, you can see if the diamond is of high quality.

The characteristics of Diamond

GIA and AGS are two well-known organizations that have developed complex grading systems for assessing diamond quality. They are the most trusted organization and it is advisable to get a diamond certificate from them. Each C is evaluated on a scale and its quality can be evaluated. There is a common language and rating, but this depends on the unit in the lab.

Diamond Quality: The four Cs of a diamond provide a more objective way to determine and evaluate the quality of a lab grown diamond. Diamond quality is difficult to judge without the four Cs. A dishonest seller may simply claim that a diamond is of extraordinary quality and therefore overpriced.

It will be much easier for consumers if there is a more objective guide to making good and bad quality diamonds. Each 4C provides a measurable description of product quality in a particular area, making it easy to determine if it is worth the money.

How to buy and Engagement Ring using the 4 Cs

You need to answer two basic questions: where and what to do. I wrote an article about where to get an engagement ring. This essay describes the quality you should look for when buying a diamond.

If the 4cs are not properly balanced, you will overpay for some attributes of the diamond and underpay for others. Let's say you're considering buying a 1-carat diamond. With the right balance of 4C, you can get such a beautiful diamond at an affordable price. Ignoring this balance, as in this James Allen example, can result in cheap and unattractive diamonds.
